If you would have asked me at the beginning of this year if I could see myself in India I would have said no. India was never on my radar as a place I wanted to go. However, back in April an amazing team arrived in my city of Brantford, Ontario, Canada and that all changed. Believe it or not, God used an Instagram photo to speak to me about leading the 2014 Track to Asia. So, for the month of July I found myself in Kolkata, India. I’ve learned that God will often take us places we don’t think we need to go (or be) because He has something there to teach us. I’m grateful He brought me to Kolkata in a unique way. As I reflect back on my time in Kolkata I wouldn’t want it any other way. Getting to travel again with a team has been refreshing. Leading the 2014 Track in India was (and still is) rewarding. This team of four are mighty and courageous. They are willing to learn and to rise above their circumstances. They are creative in the way they capture the stories that have been laid on their hearts. I saw each of these students step it up even when things around them were challenging. They found a way to make their stories happen.
I would say we survived India but more importantly we thrived. Kolkata is such a unique place; full of everything! Stories were happening all around us. There was something about the city that drew us in and I believe each of us will leave a bit of our hearts behind in Kolkata.
It’s truly an honour to be part of what God is doing in Eric, Idun, Beth, and Cat’s lives. Being able to represent five different Nations (USA, Norway, England, Australia, and Canada) and getting to be in the Nations is powerful. God knew what He was doing when He hand picked this 2014 Track.
